Not everyone is intelligent by birth. If kids are born with almost the same brain capacity then why do some students fail in-class assessments, examinations and test? You might also be wondering why this student failed when you put your 100% in class hours?
When students fail in college there can be a number of reasons behind it. Might be they are weak at grasping or possibly they are not able to understand the content; due to the action of a teacher or most importantly the environment at home. There can be an innumerable number of reasons due to which students fail in college examination. So before going through the list of tactics to overcome failure, let us first see the reasons for failure in college. After a long discussion with a number of teachers and professors from different colleges, we have come across a few reasons due to which students fail in college. The noteworthy ones are listed below:
1. Selection of the wrong course:
Most of the students tend to choose the wrong course might be due to the peer pressure or under the influence of someone else. So, as a result, they hardly understand the syllabus or they aren’t able to focus well during the lectures. These types of students are mostly confused. So their lack of interest results in the dissatisfactory result.
2. Poor foundation:
Sometimes improper foundation laid at the high college level also becomes the reason for student’s failure. They get muddled between the concept already stored in their brain box and the one newly delivered by the lecturer in college. This confusion leads to inappropriate storage of information in their brain thus resulting in a poor result.
3. Improper study habits:
When students reach college they aren’t really aware of the learning techniques. Most of them use the same learning methods like that of secondary level. But college life requires in-depth and vast learning and this can be achieved only by setting up the proper learning strategy. Improper study habits are other reason for failure.
4. Low self-esteem:
Lack of confidence and self-esteem to take challenges is another reason why do students fail in college. When students aren’t sure about their preparation and planning for test or examination, they tend to get confused and with the unclear vision, they fail to attempt the paper in a proper way.
When you aren’t really sure about your preparation you tend to depend on others for obtaining notes or getting information. This dependency also results in students fail in college. Not necessarily the information you obtain is completely true. So half or unclear knowledge about the topic results in a mistaken answer during the examination.
This is another reason for the student’s failure in the exam. Fear is also called the biggest enemy of a human being and this is very true in the case of students as well. The fear of examination and test creates a clutter of their mind and they end up writing all wrong answers in their paper.
